Electronic Poker is a popular game that can be gambled on in casinos around the globe, or in your house on your home computer, through a web account. The rules are very straightforward and consist of the player trying to get the best assemblage of cards possible in order to win cash. In this respect it is very similar as a normal game of poker, without the involvement with any other players. Of course, techniques used in a real-life game of poker, like bluffing, will be useless in Video Poker.
The game of Electronic Poker begins when the player puts credits (whether it’s tokens, tickets or money) into the machine and presses the deal button. A hand of 5 cards will then be electronically ‘distributed’ on the video screen.
The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and gamblers will need to now pick which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the bettor would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they want, from all to none.
After the gambler has decided on which cards she would like to keep, they should press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards will be needed they will be handed out. The hand is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the pay out schedule.
Normally, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It is obvious that the payout schedule can range from machine to machine, so that knowledgeable gamblers are able to pick the most profitable game each time.
As soon as the first round has finished, the player can either decide to stay on in an attempt to increase their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that they may have won. Additionally, some styles of the game give the gambler a chance to double their winnings, in which case a further game is played. There are also differences between individual games, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other differing aspects to increase playability.
