Electronic Poker is a beloved game that can be played in casinos all over the world, or in your house on your home computer, using a web connection. The rules are absolutely simple and consist of the player attempting to get the highest assemblage of cards as you can in order to win money. In this respect it’s very similar as a classic game of poker, apart from the line of contact with any other players. Of course, tactics employed during a physical game of poker, such as tricking, will be irrelevant here.
The game of Video Poker begins when the player puts credits (either tokens, tickets or money) into the video poker machine and presses the play button. A hand of 5 cards will be electronically ‘distributed’ on the video screen.
The Video Poker game also has hold buttons, and players will need to now choose which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the player would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they want, from all to none.
After the player has chosen which cards he or she wishes to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any new cards will be handed out if desired. The hand is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the payment schedule.
Generally, the lowest succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money growing for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It goes without saying that the pay out schedule can range from game to game, so that skillful enthusiasts are able to choose the most money-making ones each and every time.
After the initial round has finished, the player can either choose to continue on and try to to increase their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that might been won. Further, a few versions of the game give the player an opportunity to double their profits, in which instance a further hand is played. There are also variations between individual machines, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other differing characteristics to enhance playability.
